Year 7, 2019

Last week St Patrick’s College staff had the pleasure of interviewing prospective students for Year 7, 2019. It never ceases to amaze me the talent and enthusiasm displayed by the young people of our community.

We currently only have a handful of places left, so if you know anyone who is going to apply, but hasn’t, please give them a reminder to make an online application via the website as soon as possible.

We have a large number of students who come from an array of local primary schools around Launceston. One of the many reasons they give for wanting to come is the values and mission of St Patrick’s College. Many don’t come from Catholic, or indeed church backgrounds, however their parents believe and know that values are extremely important to the growth and development of young people.

It is always important to remember that these values are derived from our Catholic identity and mission which are underpinned by the Gospel for which we hold so dear to our hearts.

Mission and Service

St Patrick’s College mission and service has been quite visible over the past few weeks, with our Year 10-12 Ascent programs continuing their outreach programs at St Finn Barr’s Catholic Primary School, St Paul’s Catholic Primary and in the city of Melbourne with the Brotherhood of St Lawrence respectively. It is important to acknowledge the critical support of staff who enable the students to move out into the community to perform these important mission and outreach opportunities.

Senior Ball

The College Ball was held on the 19th of May and provided a wonderful celebration of the student’s time at the College. For staff, although the Ball is an enjoyable experience, we are constantly concerned for student care and safety and I personally never truly relax until I know all students are safe at home afterwards.

On the night, students presented themselves impeccably and their behaviour and the way in which they engaged made me proud as their Principal.

Thanks to all staff involved and in particular those on the College Ball Committee for their commitment and time.

I would also like to thank Gabrielle and Joe from Event Avenue for their generous support of providing decorations for the Ball.
