Are You Being Bullied?
Does Your Friend Get Teased?
Have You Witnessed Bullying?

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Bullying is when someone keeps doing or saying things to have power over another person. Bullies often call people names, say or write nasty things about their victims, leave them out of activities, threaten them, make them feel uncomfortable or scared, take or damage their things, or making them do things they don't want to do. Bullying can be physical, emotional or psychological

Have any of these things happened to you? Or, have you done any of these things to someone else?

Bullying is wrong! It makes people feel lonely, unhappy and frightened. It makes them feel unsafe and think there is something wrong with them.

Around 15 % of Australian children are bullied weekly.
Don't be a statistic - Let's stop bullying in its tracks.

At St Patrick's College students, staff and parents must be prepared to act to stop bullying.

Students will

Respect the rights of all community members and recognise and accept their differences
Refuse to take part in any form of bullying
Support the targeted students
Take some form of preventative action if appropriate
Report any incident, or suspected incident and help break the code of silence

Staff will:
Model appropriate behaviour consistently
Provide information to students about the types and nature of bullying and incorporate these principles into their learning program at every opportunity
Be observant for signs of suspected bullying
Be receptive and supportive to targets of bullying
Be vigilant in supervision to reduce opportunities for bullying
Respond appropriately to suspected incidents and then report to the relevant staff
Recognise that bullying is often a complex issue and initiate further discussion with key stuff about ongoing strategies as required
Contribute to a process of ongoing
