The Edmund Rice Centre

The Edmund Rice Centre is a sophisticated, two-level precinct designed to provide a focused environment for our Senior students. With a tertiary-style layout, the Centre encourages maturity and independent study through a balance of modern classrooms and passive supervision.

The facility is designed for maximum flexibility and student autonomy:

  • Adaptable Learning Spaces: The Centre houses eleven classrooms - four on the lower level and seven on the upper level. Many of these feature retractable walls, allowing the building to transition seamlessly into a large-scale examination space or a professional function area.
  • Dedicated Study Hubs: Senior students have access to two specialised study areas, the Waterford Room and the Tracey Room, designed for quiet focus and academic preparation.
  • Student Amenities: To support their daily study routines, students have access to two kitchenettes. These areas provide seniors with the convenience of preparing hot drinks, warming food, and making toasted sandwiches, fostering a more independent campus experience.

A Tertiary Transition

While the Centre serves as their primary academic hub, Senior students also utilise the cutting-edge resources of the Penola Innovation Centre, our specialised VET Trades spaces and the Saint Mary MacKillop Library and Future Pathways Team. This combination of a dedicated senior home base and access to industry-standard facilities and support ensures our students are well-prepared for their chosen post-school pathways.

By providing a distinct space that feels separate from the junior years, the Edmund Rice Centre helps students bridge the gap between secondary school and university or the workforce. It is a place where focus, collaboration, and independence are at the forefront of the daily experience.
